We’re not the “afters” kind of after hours, but we do
take some inspiration from them.

Everybody has experienced after hours in one form or another.

The work of the day is done, finally… You find yourself in a more intimate part of your day.
It’s time shaped by your interests and filled with people you care to know (or the characters who still haven’t gone home). Maybe it’s funny, strange, frustrating or euphoric. Perhaps it’s something else entirely.

You recall a memory with a friend that has you floored. You’re bent over the post-party dishes you were helping them wash, holding a plate to your stomach you’re laughing so hard.

You’re trying to come up with a response to the person who asked you if water is wet.

You’ve decided you’re dying, looking up at the tapestry pinned to the ceiling after hitting your second blinker trying to look cool. The person you were trying to impress invites you outside to look up at the stars.

You discover that the person down the end of the bar knows your arch nemesis from college – and they hate them too. Wow, the world is small.

You’ve gotten brave enough to mention your business idea. Based on their reaction, you may have also just met your business partner.

You’re catching up with an old friend after bumping into them before going home. You both end up crying. About sad things, but about happy things too. When you hug them goodbye, they smell the same as they always had.

You learn your coworker has the same niche interest as you. You make plans to hang out later the next week.

You agree to wake up early the next day to go on a run with your friend’s running club…

You see someone’s butt crack. So does someone else. Eyes meet. Hilarity ensues.

Moments that happen in the after hours define us. They are unscripted, unwatched, ridiculous, and significant parts of our lives that happen when we’re no longer being whoever the day required us to be.

After Hours [AH] exists to make room for a part of life that already exists and matters. To make room for young people to be young people. To make room at the end of our day to imagine more.
